No. 24 Dated 14 March 2025

Message From Mrs Dance

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a beautiful sunny week we have had!

This week is British Science Week, a national celebration of all things STEM. This year's theme is 'Change and Adapt'. Headteacher assemblies this week were led by Mr Dockree where he shared the wonders of science and the theme of this week’s science week. The children were shown a short video which explained the theme of science week. If you click on the following link The Science of Change - British Science Week 2025 - Whole School Lesson you can watch it too.

On Wednesday of this week, we welcomed our Local Authority colleague to Vigo. She spent her morning monitoring our Speech and Language Resource Provision: The Rainforest. It was a very positive morning, where Mrs Neale and her team were able to exemplify all of the fantastic work that they do to support the children when they access the Rainforest but also in their classrooms. Whilst we still await the final report, I did want to share the following comment that our visitor made: The inclusive model practised at Vigo is strong and positively impacts not only the children accessing the Rainforest provision, but also the wider school and staff team.  This highlights another very successful visit from the local authority in the past couple of weeks. Go team Vigo!

Just a gentle reminder that bikes and scooters must not be ridden on the school playgrounds. When your child arrives at school, they must place their bike or scooter in the areas provided. This is to ensure the safety of both children and parents. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Whatever you are doing this weekend, I hope that you have a wonderful two days.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Mrs. Dance

Headteacher

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.

As parents and carers you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

Lateness

We have recently noticed a significant rise in lateness.

Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day. You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent. Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Spring Flowers

While we understand how temptingImage result for dafodills it is to pick them, please remember that wild flowers need to be left where they are so they can complete their life cycle and produce seeds ready for next spring. All the daffodils and other flowers that the council have planted belong to the council and picking them is legally seen as theft.
