Message From Mrs Dance

Dear parents and carers,

As we near the end of the summer term, the school continues to be a hive of learning. The end of the academic year may be drawing ever closer, but there are still lots of learning opportunities and activities taking place.

Thank you to those of you who have already completed the pathway safety Google form. If you haven’t yet done so and would like to, please click on this link: https://forms.gle/S419BiVqiVA9ni2g6 The form will close at 3pm on Monday 14th July. We will then pass the information to the relevant people at Test Valley Borough Council.

Our amazing Y6 received their SATS results this week, I am so proud of each and every one of them for their hard work and amazing achievements. I also cannot wait to watch their end of KS2 productions next week, I have already been lucky enough to hear snippets of their songs and see some wonderful, unique costumes!

This week, a group of Year 5’s spent time with a Public Health consultant to review the Health Ed questions that form part of the Year 5 survey which will be held in the autumn term of 2025-26. Following their visit, I received the following email:

I couldn’t let the day end without emailing you to say a huge thank you for allowing me to visit Vigo School and test our forthcoming HealthEd Survey questions with Year 5.

The children were simply wonderful, such a pleasure to be with, so generous with their thoughts and views, so polite and respectful of me and each other.  They really were a credit to the school, and themselves.

We know how amazing our children are, and it is great when visitors to our school also recognise this.

Finally, on Monday you will receive your child’s end of year report. As always if you have any questions following receipt of the report, please contact your child’s class teacher.

It is going to be a scorching few days weather wise, please take care and have a lovely weekend.

Mrs. Dance

Headteacher

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.

As parents and carers, you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

More about attendance at Vigo >>

Lateness

We have recently noticed a significant rise in lateness.

Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day.

You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent.

Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Head Lice

We have been made aware of head lice in school. We would ask ALL parents to check hair and treat as necessary. It is recommended that all parents check their child’s hair at least weekly.

Lice and nits can be removed by wet combing. Wash hair with ordinary shampoo, apply lots of conditioner. Comb the whole head of hair with a fine-toothed lice detection comb, from the roots to the ends.

Wet comb on days 1, 5, 9 and 13 to catch any newly hatched head lice. Check again that everyone's hair is free of lice on day 17.

Please be aware the school is not responsible for undertaking any vetting checks for out-of-school, third-party activity providers.
