No. 13 Dated 6 December 2024

Message From Mrs Dance

Dear Parents and Carers,

Christmas is edging ever closer!

A highlight of this week was our Christingle services for KS1 and KS2 yesterday. The children sang beautifully, read wonderfully and walked to and from the church brilliantly! It was a joy to spend time in the Church with the children and staff at this festive time of year. The school was full of oranges as the children made their own Christingles. Please head to the school Facebook page to view photographs of the day.

Our craft day was also a great success. As we welcome more families to our Vigo family, we wanted to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to share in this annual Vigo event. It was amazing to see so many of you sharing the children’s crafts and fantastic to see so many Christmas wreaths being taken home to hopefully form part of your family decorations.

Finally, thank you so much to all of you who came to our Winter Fayre. It was wonderful to see so many of you celebrate with us. Due to your amazing generosity we raised a magnificent £1,084.92. We have used this money to invest in an online reading system that will enable you and your children to access home-school reading books on a digital platform. More information about this will be shared by Mrs Thompson (English Lead) and Mrs Reid (DHT) in the new year. We have also used some of the generous donation from the PTA to reupholster our library furniture. By investing in our events, we can invest in our children.

Wishing you a lovely weekend.

Mrs. Dance

Headteacher

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.

As parents and carers you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

More about attendance at Vigo >>

Lateness

We have noticed a significant rise in lateness this term.

Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day. You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent. Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Vigo School Choir Achievement

The School Choir went to support Andover Food Bank with their collection at Tesco last week. We received this thanks from the Food Bank:

"We wanted to say a massive thank you to you, the staff and the wonderful pupils that came along and supported us at the Tesco Big Christmas Collection last week. The feedback from the shoppers, the store manager and the Tesco colleagues was how well behaved and polite the children were and how wonderful the singing was and that was definitely something we all agree on, we were totally blown away."
