Message From Mrs Dance
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that this third newsletter of the spring term finds you all well.
You will have noticed that the format of our newsletter has changed recently. We are very fortunate to have many different languages spoken in our diverse community. To that end, we have decided to use our new website to ensure that our weekly newsletters can be accessed by all of our families. Mrs. Scahill and Mrs. Smith (members of the office team) have spent a long time developing the new newsletter and learning how to use our website to facilitate improved communication with our community. I do hope that you find the change a positive one.
Thank you to all of our families who completed the parent survey. The governors, senior leadership team and I, are now in the process of analysing the results and using your views and opinions to develop actions that will improve our school even further. Once we have completed this step, I will share the outcomes with you all.
Our junior governors have been very busy working on a project for the school. They have written a letter to you all to explain what they are doing. You can find their letter in this newsletter.
Wishing you all a lovey weekend.
Mrs. Dance

Attendance this week
Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.
As parents and carers you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

Lateness
We have recently noticed a significant rise in lateness.
Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day. You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent. Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Letter From Vigo Junior Governors
Dear parent and carers,
The Junior Governors, with Mrs Dance's permission, have decided to change the house team names for Vigo.
We have found Malala, Nick, Rosa and Anne Frank are the same colours as our emotions charts (which can be confusing) and not many of the children know much about them.
Instead, we have held a vote and have chosen something more child friendly and exciting for the children to engage in- the elements. To celebrate our schools' Spanish origins and because KS2 are now learning Spanish as their modern foreign language we have added a twist of them being spoken in Spanish.
So, our new houses will be Tiera (Earth), Aire (Air), Agua (Water) and Fuego (Fire).
Pronounced-
Tierra: tyeh-rrah
Aire: ah-ee-reh
Agua: ah-gwah
Fuego: fweh-goh
The Junior Governors and the office will be exploring ways to roll out these new houses in the coming months so we will keep you updated with any news.

Request from Year R
Can you help?
Year R are still in need of milk bottles to create their igloo. Please pass on any 4 pint milk bottles to any of the Year R team. These need to be thoroughly cleaned and dried before use. If they could be un-stickered and with lids on that would be even better.
Thank you! Keep a look-out for our Grand Design being built over the coming weeks.

Forest School, Art and PE Timetable

Please remember that trainers should only be worn on PE days. (Both Class PE and Mr Holmes PE)
|
|
Dress Down Clothing
Please can parents and carers be mindful that the clothing worn on dress down days should be appropriate for the learning environment.

|
Head Lice
We have been made aware of headlice in multiple year groups in school. It is recommended that all parents across the whole school check their child’s hair at least weekly.
We would ask ALL parents to check hair and treat as necessary. It’s frustrating when parents clear their child’s hair only for them to catch them again!

Low Mood/Depression
Understanding and Supporting your child.
2024-2025 Online Workshops
The workshop aims to upskill parents and carers to understand low mood and depression, the signs and symptoms of this in young people, and provide some simple skills and strategies for you to take away and use to support your young person who may be struggling with their mood.
The workshop will be mostly informative, with some optional opportunities for discussion, input, and questions via the digital chat function. You will not need to have your video-camera or microphone on for the workshop.
