No. 31 Dated 16 May 2025

Message From Mrs Dance

Dear parents and carers,

It has been another busy week here at school.

All week, our amazing Year 6 children have been sitting their end of Key Stage 2 tests. They have all been absolutely superb! Their attitude and engagement with the tests has been fantastic. The Y6 breakfast each morning has been great; bacon rolls, sausages in a bun and croissants have all been on offer. Thank you to the staff team in Year 6 for their support and encouragement of the children, not just this week, but all year.

I wanted to make you aware that the South West Grid for Learning launched a new survey this month. The survey seeks to understand the concerns, expectations and experiences that parents and carers expect to face after giving a child their first smartphone. The overall objective is to map how this milestone is seen by those charged with caring for children. This is a little understood area, despite the impact that smartphones have on children. In particular, the role these devices play in introducing children to the digital world. This survey is designed to change that. With concrete insights into how families navigate this transition, the SWGfL seeks to produce a support kit to help with these issues. If you are interested in completing this survey, please follow the link below:

https://swgfl.org.uk/magazine/take-our-survey-share-your-experience-on-your-childs-first-smartphone/

Our bird boxes are now home to some baby birds. The video camera installed in the bird box outside the main entrance gives us daily visual updates on their progress and highlights just how hard the parents are working! If you get a chance please do come and have a look.

In sports news, yesterday we received all the prizes won during our recent sponsorship event with Kylie Grimes. Mr Christmas worked hard and got them all organised and distributed to each class today so that the children can bring them home. Thanks to the generosity of you all, we raised a magnificent £2,500 to spend on sports equipment for the school. Go Team Vigo!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.

As parents and carers, you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

More about attendance at Vigo >>

Lateness

We have recently noticed a significant rise in lateness.

Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day. You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent. Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.
