Message From Mrs Dance
Dear parents and carers,
The summer term is flying by!
This week’s assemblies have been talking to the children about cultural diversity. We are encouraging our children to recognise and celebrate, not only the richness of the world’s cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.
Earlier this week, Mr. Burdock took some Year 3 children to play Tri-golf at Harrow Way secondary school. The children learnt some great skills and, as always, were fantastic ambassadors for our school, exemplifying our MIRROR values throughout the morning.
Over the past few weeks, we have had the pleasure of welcoming our new children and families to EYFS for their transition stay and play sessions. The Teddy Bears picnic events have been a great way for the children, their families and staff to get to know one another before they begin their educational journey with us here at Vigo.
Next half-term promises to be a great 7 weeks jam-packed with lots of exciting events: sports day, discos, the FoVP Summer festival and lots more!
A gentle reminder that Monday 2nd June is an INSET day so we look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Tuesday 3rd June.
Wishing you all a lovely half-term.
Mrs. Dance

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.
As parents and carers, you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

Lateness
We have recently noticed a significant rise in lateness.
Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day.
You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent.
Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Quote of the Week
“Kindness is the only service that will stand the storm of life and not wash out.
It will wear well and will be remembered long after the prism of politeness or the complexion of courtesy has faded away.”

Thank you and Goodbye

Head Lice
We have been made aware of head lice in multiple year groups in school. We would ask ALL parents to check hair and treat as necessary. It is recommended that all parents check their child’s hair at least weekly.
Lice and nits can be removed by wet combing. Wash hair with ordinary shampoo, apply lots of conditioner. Comb the whole head of hair with a fine-toothed lice detection comb, from the roots to the ends.
Wet comb on days 1, 5, 9 and 13 to catch any newly hatched head lice. Check again that everyone's hair is free of lice on day 17.
