Message From Mrs Dance

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome back to the final weeks of the summer term. There are lots of exciting events coming up that we look forward to sharing with you all.

I am delighted that once again we have been awarded the Gold Sports Mark. To find out more about this achievement please access the PE page on the school website, by clicking the following link: Vigo Primary School - Physical Education Curriculum

Thank you to Mr Burdock (PE Lead), Mr Holmes and Mr Cooper for all of their hard work in inspiring and coaching our children as well as driving a fantastic sporting curriculum.

During the half-term, one of our Junior Governors emailed me requesting that we develop a Junior Governor page on the website. We didn’t have one, but now we do! The new page on the school website enables them to share with their peers, staff, parents and our local and wider community what they have achieved and what they are going to do next. Please take the time to visit their page by clicking on this link: Vigo Primary School - Junior Governors The Junior Governors will be regularly updating the page, so please keep checking in.

A gentle reminder that the school uniform policy allows children to wear black footwear, which does include black trainers. Please ensure that your children come into school in the correct footwear. We are seeing an increase in colourful fashion trainers or black and white trainers (when it is not their classes PE day), neither of which adhere to the policy. We are here to support our families, so if you need help then please contact the school office. I appreciate your ongoing support in this matter.

Our next Parent Forum is being held this coming Monday. Please complete the Google Doc form, post a message in your year group parent forum letter box or speak to one of the reps directly if you wish for an item of discussion to be added to the agenda. Vigo Primary School - Parent Forum

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Mrs. Dance

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.

As parents and carers, you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

More about attendance at Vigo >>

Lateness

We have recently noticed a significant rise in lateness.

Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day.

You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent.

Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Amazing Fundraising!

Two of our pupils, Tristan and TJ, are currently training to do the half Clarendon Way walking marathon on Sunday 8th June. They are getting up at 5.45am every week and training for four to five hours, without moaning!

They are hoping to raise £200 to split between Naomi House and Battersea Dogs Home.
