Message From Mrs Dance
Dear parents and carers,
This week has been a hive of activity at school. With only 5 weeks left of this academic year, there is a lot going on!
On Tuesday, Mr. Burdock and Miss. Horsfield, took a mixed team of Y6 children to a cricket tournament at the Andover cricket ground. The team played brilliantly, exemplifying our MIRROR values throughout the day. They were incredibly successful-coming joint second overall- congratulations to them all!
On Wednesday we had an unannounced visit from the English Hampshire Inspectorate and Advisory Service (HIAS) to carry out a monitoring visit to observe our delivery of the phonics check in Y1 and 2. This is something that all local authorities across the country have to carry out each year. I am delighted to say that our local authority colleague was very impressed with how we as a school support this important check. She observed some of the children and was complimentary of the administration and our phonics curriculum as a whole. Thank you to Mrs. Martin (Phonics Lead), the Y1 and 2 team and all the children.
Today, we welcomed back into school those children and their families who are joining our school community as our new Year R in September. It was lovely to see all the children enjoying their time in the classrooms, familiarising themselves with all the provision. It was a great opportunity for the Year R team to spend some time getting to know the families; supporting a smooth transition into Early Years.
As a school, we take our safeguarding role very seriously. To that end, I have been made aware of a Safer Schools warning about a character called Jeffy. I am sharing the link to the Safer Schools website to support your ability to safeguard and supervise your children’s internet use. Please click on the link to access the website: Safeguarding Update: Jeffy - Safer Schools
The weather forecast looks a bit brighter over the weekend. Whatever you are doing, I do hope that you all have a wonderful time.
Mrs. Dance
