Newsletter Number 35 - 20 June 2025
|
|
Message From Mrs Dance
Dear parents and carers,
I hope that this week’s newsletter finds you well. It has certainly been a hot week! The children and staff team have coped brilliantly, with lots of water being drunk and keeping cool in the shade. This beautiful weather is set to stay for a while at least, so please ensure that your children come into school with sun hats and applying sun cream so that we can all work to keep them safe in the sun. We are allocating time before break and lunchtimes so the children can apply their sun cream before they venture outside.
I am delighted to be able to celebrate two sporting achievement from out lower key stage 2 children this week:

Poppy, in Y4, and her team, had a fantastic achievement in their latest football competition, they are the U8/U9 tournament 2025 Plate Winners.
Kallie, in year 3, is a proud member of Charlton Rocks Cheerleading Academy and has had a fantastic season, competing in three national competitions across Birmingham, Telford, and most recently the ICC Summer Jam in Guildford. Kallie and her team, Flint, have achieved a remarkable result in every competition this season by “hitting zero,” which means their routines were executed with no deductions, an AMAZING team achievement! The club is currently recruiting for next season, if you are interested in getting involved, click on the link: https://www.charltonrockscheer.com/
We are all getting excited about Sports Day next Wednesday and the Family picnic. I look forward to seeing you all there to celebrate our children’s fantastic sporting achievements as well as coming together as a community and sharing a lovely picnic and ice cream on the school field afterwards.
Whatever you are doing this weekend, please keep safe in the sun and have a great time.
Mrs. Dance

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.
As parents and carers, you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

Lateness
We have recently noticed a significant rise in lateness.
Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day.
You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent.
Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Amazing Fundraising!
Two of our pupils, Tristan and TJ, are currently training to do the half Clarendon Way walking marathon on Sunday 8th June. They are getting up at 5.45am every week and training for four to five hours, without moaning!
They are hoping to raise £200 to split between Naomi House and Battersea Dogs Home.

Head Lice
We have been made aware of head lice in school. We would ask ALL parents to check hair and treat as necessary. It is recommended that all parents check their child’s hair at least weekly.
Lice and nits can be removed by wet combing. Wash hair with ordinary shampoo, apply lots of conditioner. Comb the whole head of hair with a fine-toothed lice detection comb, from the roots to the ends.
Wet comb on days 1, 5, 9 and 13 to catch any newly hatched head lice. Check again that everyone's hair is free of lice on day 17.
