Message From Mrs Dance
Dear parents and carers,
As we draw closer to the end of this academic year, the school is a hive of play practice (Y6), school trips, sporting events and transitional activities.
Speaking of sports day, it was wonderful to see so many of you attending our school sports day events. In my role of timekeeper, I had the opportunity to watch all the events taking place, including our inclusive Stepping Stones sports event in the afternoon. Throughout the day, the children exemplified our MIRROR values, and it was lovely to hear you all cheering the children on and celebrating their sporting achievements. Our sports day is a way for the children to demonstrate all the skills that they have learnt this year as well as to showcase the wide and varied sporting events that form part of our PE curriculum. It goes without saying that the whole event takes meticulous planning and exceptional organisation, thanks again to Mr Burdock and Mr Holmes, who once again smashed it! Thank you to those of you who shared positive feedback during the day and took the time to send positive emails afterwards. These are very much appreciated and mean a great deal to the entire staff team.
I truly enjoy celebrating the achievements of our children. I am delighted to say that I have some sporting achievements to share with you all.

Congratulations to Max in Y6 and his football team, Upper Clatford under 11s, who were awarded the Fair Play award for the Testway leagues this season. As the striker for the team, Max gave up a penalty during a game, giving the ball to a teammate so that they had the opportunity to score their first goal for the club, a FANTASTIC example of our MIRROR values Max!
A team of YR children spent Tuesday morning at a rounders event held by Harrow Way secondary school. The children were FANTASTIC and learnt lots of new skills!
At our recent Parent Forum meeting, we were asked to share the concept behind the lunchtime Golden Tables in KS1 and KS2. This initiative was devised by the lunchtime supervisors in the hall. Those children who exemplify our High Five Values in the lunch halls throughout the week get invited to the Golden Table on a Friday. The table is decorated with a golden tablecloth, and the children get to drink out of gold-rimmed, plastic goblets. It is our way of promoting positive lunchtime eating behaviours and to celebrate the children’s positive choices.
Finally, later on this afternoon, you will receive your child’s transition booklet for next year. Following parent feedback, we have changed the timeframe to enable you and your child to use the weekend to familiarise yourself with next year’s staff teams.
This Saturday, at 5pm, our wonderful choir are singing at the Armed Forces event at Vigo Park, we hope to see you there.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
