Message From Mrs Dance

Dear parents and carers,

I cannot believe that we are drawing ever closer to the end of the autumn term.

The school has been awash with Christmas cheer. Year R and Year 2 have performed their Christmas assemblies, their singing, acting and speaking was A-MA-ZING! Thank you to the staff and you all for helping the children prepare for such wonderful performances. I cannot wait for the Year 1 assemblies next week!

On Wednesday, I had the privilege of joining Mrs Weymouth and the school choir to walk to Tesco’s and perform a thirty-minute set. The children were exemplary and sang like angels. It was wonderful to receive so many positive and congratulatory comments from the Tesco’s customers and staff.

I am delighted to announce that, as a school, we have been awarded the bronze award for our Trauma Informed and Attachment Aware practice. We are officially a Trauma Informed and Attach Aware School (TIAAS). Mrs Wright and I are now aiming to achieve the Silver award!

Yesterday afternoon, both our girls and boys football teams had away games at Portway. The girls team played one game, which they won. The boys played two games, winning one and losing one. Both teams played with great resilience and showed amazing sportsmanship. Well done!

Finally, thank you to all of you who came to our Winter Fayre last Friday. It was a fantastic event, where the children and school came together with you, the parents to raise money and to join in the festive spirit. A group of Year 6 children brilliantly led the winter games in the brown hall. Their business acumen and powers of persuasion whilst exemplifying our MIRROR values was impressive!

I am delighted to share that we raised a magnificent £1176.82!

Thank you to you all for your generosity and to the Friends of Vigo for their hard work and motivation, what a successful event!

With one week left until we break up for the Christmas holidays, I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Mrs Dance

Headteacher

Quote of the Week

Thank You!

We have been very lucky to have some fantastic donations and would like to thank the companies for their generosity.

Dobbies Garden Centre

The large Christmas tree in our KS2 Hall was donated by Dobbies again this year. If you still need to buy any Christmas presents or decorations, go and have a look at their fantastic range and show some Vigo appreciation while you are there.

Gemini Cleaning

Gemini Cleaning is the company that cleans our school every day. Not only do their staff work really hard to make the school a clean and comfortable environment for our children to learn in, but they donated a Shark Hoover to the Friends of Vigo Primary for their Christmas Raffle.

Christmas Lunch

Yesterday was Christmas Lunch day at Vigo.

The Dolce Team did us proud again, feeding all the children who wanted one, a delicious Christmas lunch.

Our amazing Mid-Day Supervisory Assistants decorated all the tables for the children and made the lunch extra special.

Head Lice

We have been made aware of headlice in school. It is recommended that all parents across the whole school check their child’s hair at least weekly.

We would ask ALL parents to check hair and treat as necessary. It’s frustrating when parents clear their child’s hair only for them to catch them again!

A huge thank you to Andover College for inviting our Year 3 pupils to their students theatre production of "Robin Hood" The Christmas pantomime is becoming a yearly tradition and our children (and staff) always enjoy visiting. The children came back buzzing and with many stating that "I'll be on that stage one day!" How about that to spark some motivation!
