Message From Mrs Dance

I hope that your week has been a successful one.

Here at school, it has been another busy week. The spring 1 Parent Forum was held on Monday. It was a really beneficial meeting which has sparked some ideas around how we can support our parent body with subject-specific curriculum information which will enable home learning to be highly effective. We are in the process of planning and actioning an idea around school recorded videos shared on the school website. Please watch this space for further updates.

Our open morning event last Saturday was a big success. Over the course of the morning, we welcomed and showed a large number of prospective families our school and our amazing Vigo team. It was wonderful to receive really positive feedback from the parents, all of whom were incredibly impressed with our school environment, our curriculum offer, as well as the welcoming and friendly school team. Go team Vigo! Here are some of the comments that we received:

‘My son really enjoyed the morning.  Particularly enjoyed the different activities.  Staff so welcoming and friendly.’

‘The welcoming in person was fab also the deputy head he was amazing!’

‘We overall loved it and my little girl loved being able to show her younger brother who is due to start in September, her current class etc’

Yesterday, we welcomed Councillor North to school. Having met our Y6 children and team at Calshot in November, she was so impressed by the children and team that she asked if she could come and visit our school. It is always positive to showcase our school to local government officials to share what we do and to engage them with the successes and challenges that schools face. She was very complimentary of the children, staff and school environment.

Finally, following the visit last week from the Hampshire music team, I am delighted to be able to share that they can offer peripatetic brass instrument lessons (in small groups of 6) to our children. If your child would be interested in learning to play a brass instrument, please complete the expression of interest form by clicking on the link below. If we get enough interest, I will then arrange for the Hampshire Music Teacher to come in, and each interested child will be offered one free trial sessions in the next couple of weeks: https://forms.gle/zmbiVxoenkgjkmqi9

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
