Message From Mrs Dance
I hope that you have all had a lovely week.
Following National Storytelling Week, my assemblies this week have been focussed on the power of stories. I explored with the children the emotional and physical effects that reading and listening to stories can have on their bodies and brain. Using a
story mountain scaffold, KS1 even wrote the beginning to a story in their assembly:
Once upon a time, in the deep, dark jungle, there lived a sheep who thought he was a bear!
One day, he wanted to leave, so he wiggled away to the middle of nowhere!
Unfortunately, when he arrived, he saw a real bear and wiggled right up to him... thinking they were the same!
The children have now been asked to go home and think about what the ‘luckily’ and ‘in the end' parts to their story could be!
Next week is Safer Internet Day, where I will be exploring with the children: “Smart tech, Safe choices – exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.”
At the end of last week and the beginning of this week, our girls and boys football team played away against local schools. The girl’s team showed grit and determination and won their match against Knights Enham 8-0. The boys team showed similar team spirit against St John the Baptist and drew 2-2. Mr Christmas and Mr Burdock, were in awe of an AMAZING shot made by Logan in Year 5. Mr Christmas stated that “it was the best goal I have ever seen in Junior football!” Congratulations to both teams.

Thank you for your generosity. We raised a fabulous £370.23 for Simon Says!
This donation will fund support for lots of local children.
Thank you for your generosity for our dress-down charity today – Spotlight UK. We work closely with the charity and
our children receive support from their wonderful team. So far we have collected £274.88 Once we have a donation total, we will let you all know.
Finally, today, Year 5 have been learning essential life-saving skills from St Johns Ambulance. The children explored how to help and support each other in the event of an emergency. It was a great morning. I asked the children to let me know what they thought of the enrichment experience. Here is what three of Year 5 said:
“It was really interesting to see how I can help people.” Elsie
"It was really useful, because I have learnt how to help others and myself in emergency situations." Steven
“I thought it was really useful to learn when someone is unconscious what to do and when to do it.” Keaton
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
