Message From Mrs Dance

Well, it has certainly been a sunny week this week. The mornings are lighter, and I am starting to feel more confident that spring is on its way.
The focus of my assemblies this week have all been around the philosophical question of: Why Should I be Good? Using an
animation and time to discuss, I asked the children to think about the person that they want to be. Giving them time to reflect upon how having the freedom to make choices is a powerful one, and it is our responsibility to make the best possible choices that we can, learning from the ones that don’t go well.
As part of our ongoing safeguarding practice, I have been signposted this week to a valuable resource for parents from the NSPCC. The NSPCC’s guidance on children, mobile phones and online safety addresses one of the most common questions schools are asked: when is a child ready for a phone, and how can families manage the risks?
Please click on the link below to access the NSPCC guide which offers balanced, practical advice on readiness, boundary-setting, parental controls, and ongoing conversations about safe and responsible use.

Yesterday (Thursday 5th March) we hosted our annual visit from our Leading Learning Partner – Mrs McCarthy. It was a great day, where the children and staff team showcased our school to an extremely high standard. Mrs McCarthy spent time joining in with lessons, looking at books, speaking to children and staff as well as gathering lots of evidence to support the school’s successes and achievements as well as supporting our future school development plans.
On Tuesday, Ivy (Y6) and Logan (Y5) attended the finals of the Hampshire Cross Country event. Both Ivy and Logan were fantastic MIRROR values ambassadors and finished the event placing well in their individual events. Congratulations to Ivy and Logan!
What a wonderful World Book Day we all had. It was marvellous to see so many in the school getting into the story spirit. It also added an extra dimension to our annual LLPR visit. It was a first for me spending the day with a Local Authority Inspector dressed as Mr Tumnus from the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
