Message From Mrs Dance

I trust that you have had a lovely week.

My Head Teacher assembly focus aligned with National Women’s day last Sunday. We talked about democracy and what it means, linking it to the Suffragette movement and how we all have a voice and we all should be heard. I linked this in with our Junior Governors and their current whole school recycling focus (more information to come soon from the Junior Governors about this initiative). I ended each assembly reminding the children that their voice matters and that using a democratic, fair way to hear each other’s opinions can help us to avoid conflict, whether that be in the classroom or on the playground.

Yesterday, the Vigo girl’s football team played a match away at Pilgrims Cross. As always, they exemplified our school MIRROR values to a very high standard, demonstrating great teamwork. As an added bonus they also won, scoring an AMAZING 7 goals and finishing the match the victors 7-0. Congratulations to the entire team, which includes their coach Mr Burdock!

Finally, on Wednesday, we held the first of our two parent consultation evenings. It was a really positive evening, which was highlighted in the extremely positive feedback in the parent feedback forms. We have one more parent consultation evening next Wednesday, where we look forward to welcoming more parents into school. The minutes from the most recent parent forum meeting can be found here: Parent Forum Highlights 2 March 2026

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Key Dates

Events during week commencing 16 March 2026

Monday 16 March -   Young Carers Action Day – awareness day only.

Andover Young Carers are a local charity if you would like to support them directly. This is not a dress down day, and we will not be taking a collection in school.

Please Be Aware!

In Hampshire, stopping, parking, or waiting on yellow "School Keep Clear" zigzag markings is prohibited during specified times, to ensure child safety. Violations can result in a £70 Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)

Spring Flowers

Spring may seem a long way off, but the daffodils are already starting to bloom! While we understand how tempting it is to pick them, can we remind you that wild flowers need to be left where they are so they can complete their life cycle and produce seeds ready for next spring. All the daffodils and other flowers that the council have planted, do belong to the council and picking them is legally seen as theft.

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.

As parents and carers, you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

More about attendance at Vigo >>

You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent.

Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.
