Message From Mrs Dance

I hope you all had a happy and restful Easter break. It has been wonderful to welcome the children back to school and see their smiles as we begin the summer term together.

The summer term is always a special time at Vigo. The children have settled back into routines really well and continue to show enthusiasm and positivity in their learning. Over the coming weeks, pupils will enjoy a range of engaging lessons, outdoor learning opportunities and enrichment activities. Excellent attendance and punctuality are vital in supporting children’s progress, and we thank you for your continued support with this.

On Monday we will be holding our penultimate Parent Forum meeting for this academic year. The Parent Forum is a great success and has directly impacted our school and its ongoing evolution. The Google Doc for next week’s meeting is now live, so please do have a look and add your views. As a forum, we wanted to identify further ways that we can strengthen our home-school partnership, particularly curriculum information. Historically, twilight sessions led by the staff have been unsuccessful with low uptake from our parent community, so we have decided to trial curriculum videos. Our first maths curriculum video has been made and is now live on our school website. Our aim is to create a library of videos for different subjects which we will create and share over the summer term and into the next academic year.

You can access the video by clicking on the link below.

Vigo Primary School - Curriculum Videos

Following work led by Mr Dockree, which included a parent, staff and child survey, we have evaluated and enhanced our High Five Rules. The new posters have been made and are starting to appear around the school. Next week’s assemblies will share these widely with the children and staff.

We value our strong partnership with families and encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. There are many exciting events planned this term, and further information will be shared with you soon.

Thank you, as always, for your support. We are looking forward to a happy and successful summer term for everyone.

In typical Vigo fashion, Year 3 have kickstarted the Summer Term with an exciting trip to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. This amazing experience was designed to hook the children's curiosity ahead of starting their Science Learning journey based on plants this half term. The children were brilliantly behaved throughout the day and asked some truly thoughtful questions, which really impressed the guides and their teachers. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to explore and learn in such a beautiful setting, and this experience will support their learning back in the classroom. Well done Year 3 for representing Vigo in in the community in such an incredible manner
