Newsletter Number 26   -   24 April 2026

Message From Mrs Dance

I hope that this week’s newsletter finds you all well. The sunny weather has definitely been a welcome addition to our week here at school. It has been wonderful to see the children positively engaging in sunny lunchtimes and the varied fun and engaging activities and zones on offer to them each day on the playground.

I am delighted to announce that we have just been awarded the silver pathway award from the Attachment Research Community (ARC). We have been awarded this for our embedded attachment and trauma informed practice which supports our children and community.

As part of our safeguarding practise, I felt it important to share a piece of information that I received that will support us all in keeping our children safer online.

The Hidden Dangers of Pinterest

Pinterest tends to fly under the radar. Unlike Instagram or TikTok, it has never attracted the same level of public concern, it's older and it's built around image collections. Platforms that present as visual or creative tools like Pinterest, VSCO, Tumblr, Lemon8, Canva, Amino, often include messaging features that aren't obvious. The question worth asking is not "what app is my child using?" but actually "what can that app actually do?"

To find out more about the article and the research and information gathered, please click on the following link. The article is a short, practical read:

New Plants

Mr Baker has spent time on the front of the school, putting in new plants and garden decorations. We hope you all agree that the front of school looks really lovely.

Please help us to keep this looking nice, by making sure your children respect this area and don't pick the flowers or move the decorations.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.

As parents and carers, you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

More about attendance at Vigo >>

Lateness

Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day.

You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent.

Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Vigo Primary School
In typical Vigo fashion, Year 3 have kickstarted the Summer Term with an exciting trip to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. This amazing experience was designed to hook the children's curiosity ahead of starting their Science Learning journey based on plants this half term. The children were brilliantly behaved throughout the day and asked some truly thoughtful questions, which really impressed the guides and their teachers. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to explore and learn in such a beautiful setting, and this experience will support their learning back in the classroom.Well done Year 3 for representing Vigo in in the community in such an incredible manner
