Newsletter Number 36   -   17 July 2026

Message From Mrs Dance

Dear parents and carers,

As we reach the final newsletter of this academic year, it is hard to believe how quickly the year has passed. It has been a year filled with achievements and memorable experiences. Our children have represented the school with pride at a wide range of events, showcasing their talents, enthusiasm and commitment. We have also been delighted to receive positive feedback from visitors to the school, who have consistently praised the children’s excellent behaviour, positive attitudes and the strong progress they have made in their learning.

I have posted more 1,000 Dojo postcards this academic year than any other year since I became Headteacher at Vigo. Congratulations to all of those children who have achieved this fantastic total!

I am delighted to share with you all that we have another art exhibition currently in place at Winchester University! We have collaborated with Hampshire County Council’s Climate Unity Programme and the University music department, who have generously provided musical instruments for this project. Our Year 2 classes have been working together to transform these instruments into a tribute to our lovely choir; when visitors scan the QR Code, they can hear our amazing choir singing. It is a truly inspiring art installation!

The exhibition is open until July 22 at the Winchester University Art Gallery, so please visit if you have the chance.

This year, our Vigo artists have had the unique experience of sharing their artwork with the local and wider communities within Hampshire. Thank you to Miss Marta and, of course, our artists in situ, who have shared their artistic inspiration and voices far and wide.

At this time in the school year, we sadly say goodbye to some staff members. Goodbye and good luck to Mrs Smith, Mrs McNeil, Miss Furner and Mrs Cook who are leaving us on Wednesday, I wish them all the best in their next adventures. To all Year 6 pupils, staff, and families who are moving on, thank you for being such an important part of our Vigo community. Remember, you have been surrounded by a team that believes in you, wants the very best for you, and will always be here to support you. Once part of Team Vigo, always part of Team Vigo!

Thank you to the fantastic Friends of Vigo PTA. Due to their generosity of time and spirit, this year they have continued to raise money for the children and our school. Thank you to everyone for attending the events and your ongoing support of the PTA and our school.

Before we break for the summer, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all our children, parents, carers and staff. Your enthusiasm, support and dedication have made this a truly memorable and rewarding year. I cannot wait to see what we will achieve together next year and look forward to welcoming everyone back in September.

Until then, enjoy the summer break, make lots of happy memories and take time to relax and recharge.

Have a wonderful summer and see you in September!

Art at the Station! Message from Mrs Marta... In collaboration with the Hampshire Art Society, our Year 3 students created fantastic collages as a tribute to the Mexican artist "Frida Kahlo". Twelve art pieces have been chosen and exhibited in the waiting rooms at Andover train station. Frida's exhibition at the TATE Gallery in London is a highlight of the summer art events, and this is our small contribution to the "Making of the Icon" exhibition. If you're traveling by train this summer, I encourage you to stop by and see our school's work on displayit's a wonderful feeling to see our efforts recognised!
