Message From Mrs Dance

I hope that this week has been a positive one for you all.

This week, we welcomed the BrightBites team into talk to the children in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4. The sessions were facilitated by Dentaid the Dental Charity, who run a free oral health education scheme called BrightBites. BrightBites is a FREE fun and interactive workshop, presented by a Bright Bite volunteer, to help children understand the importance of looking after their teeth and gums.

At Vigo, we aim for 100% Attendance for every child

Being in school is important to your child’s academic achievement, wellbeing, and wider development.  There is evidence to suggest that regular school attendance is a key mechanism in supporting children and young people's educational, economic and social outcomes. Schools can facilitate positive peer relationships, which contribute to better mental health and wellbeing.

Attendance at school is crucial to prepare young people for a successful transition into adulthood, and to support their longer-term economic and social participation in the community. There is also evidence that students with the highest attendance throughout their time in school gain the best GCSE and A-level results – this includes primary school attendance.

If you have any questions regarding attendance or if you would like to speak to our Attendance Support Worker, Mrs Thomas, please contact the school by emailing attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk

Parent Forum

We held our first parent forum meeting on Monday of this week. The minutes from Monday’s meeting will be shared with you all next week. It was great to welcome back reps from last year as well as new reps to the team. Our focus was around before and after school provision. Jack Crane from 360 Collective Ed (After School Club provider) attended and shared the great news that they can offer an after school performing arts club! This is a great addition to our enrichment offer and I cannot wait to see the dramatic productions that are performed. All information regarding this and the 360 After school club provision on offer at Vigo was emailed to parents on the 17.09.2026. If you did not receive this email, please let the school office know.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
