Dear Parents and Carers,
As a busy, thriving school on an upward trajectory, we are delighted you have chosen Vigo Primary School as your school of choice. All new Year R children will join us at the start of term in September 2025 and children starting during the academic year will join us on a mutually agreeable date.
All new parents will be issued with a Vigo Primary School New Starter Pack. This contains a school registration form (including information about legal document requirements), and lots of valuable information about our wonderful school.
Please take a few minutes to browse our website to help familiarise yourself with the school. For ease of information, please find links below to some useful documents for new parents.
If you are thinking of applying for a September 2025 Year R or in-year space, we have one final open day event scheduled for Monday 19th May 2025 at 4:00pm, why not come along and see what our school has to offer? Please contact our school office on 01264 365166 to book your slot to visit our amazing school.
Please note, Hampshire County Council admission round for Reception Class entrants opened on 1st November 2024 and closed on 15th January 2025. We have spaces in Reception Year for September 2025. Therefore, if you would like to make a late application for your child's Year R place for September 2025 please contact the school office for availability. You will also be required to complete the Hampshire County Admissions online application. Please click here to start your application.
For applications made in the admissions round November 2024 - January 2025, you should have now received confirmation from the Hampshire Admissions Team that you have been allocated a place at Vigo Primary School (April 2025). We have sent a 'Welcome Letter' to you to invite you along to some transition sessions running during the summer term (May–July 2025) where our Year R team are really looking forward to getting to know you and your child. Details of the transition sessions are outlined below.

New Year R Transition Information for September 2025
To support your child’s transition into school, we hold a number of transition events. The first of these will be our annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic in May. There will be three sessions available:
Tuesday 6th May 2025 – Teddy Bear’s Picnic
- Session 1: 9:10am-10:00am
- Session 2: 10:30am-11:20am
- Session 3: 1:30pm – 2:20pm
This will be followed by Stay and Play Sessions in May, June and July 2025, all three days will host two sessions:
1) Friday 23rd May 2025 – Stay and Play 1
- Session 1: 9:30am – 10:15am
- Session 2: 10:30am – 11:15am
*Directly supervised by you, your child will have the opportunity to explore and play in our Reception Class areas and meet the Year R Team
2) Friday 13th June 2025 – Stay and Play 2
- Session 1: 9:30am – 10:15am
- Session 2: 10:30am – 11:15am
*Directly supervised by you, your child will have the opportunity to explore and play in our Reception Class areas and meet the Year R Team
3) Wednesday 9th July 2025 – Stay and Play 3
- Session 1: 1:30pm – 2:15pm
- Session 2: 3:30pm – 4:15pm
*Your child will remain with and be supervised by the Year R Team, whilst you meet in our Key Stage 1 hall to enjoy coffee cake, sample school dinner menus and meet the Senior Leadership Team
We hope you can attend a session on each day (Friday 23rd May, Friday 13th June and Wednesday 9th July), however we understand this may not be possible for some parents/carers. Therefore, as a minimum, we ask that you attend at least one of the Stay and Play sessions listed above. In order to book you and your child a space at this event, please contact the school office.
