Exciting Art News Our amazing pupils have become...REAL LIFE ARTISTS! We are so excited to reveal that Vigo Primary School have teamed up with Chapel Arts Studios to bring you "We All Have Different Eyes", a new exhibition presented by our pupils. The exhibition will take place at Chapel Arts Studios from 10–14 June 2026, featuring artwork created by children from across Vigo School. Organised by artist and Chapel Arts Studios Associate Marta Lichochinska, who is also the school's art teacher, the exhibition showcases work from most of the children in the school and offers visitors a rare opportunity to experience the world through young eyes. Speaking about the exhibition, Marta Lichochinska said: "Seeing the world through children's eyes is an incredible privilege, but it also comes with a significant responsibilitythe duty to protect their unique visions. Children are natural artistic geniuses, unfiltered and authentic. As artists, they are brave and curious, and their visions are often non-negotiable. It is our role as educators and parents to foster and protect this freedom of thinking and expression. We should cherish their artistic voices more than ever. It's essential to protect diversity, encourage trust in the creative process, and embrace mistakes, as they often lead to exciting breakthroughs and great ideas. 'We All Have Different Eyes' captures the beauty of seeing the world from various viewpoints. In our art lessons, children are taught to trust their eyes, gradually building their unique and personal visions. This powerful exhibition celebrates art and creativity in its purest and happiest form. I hope this vibrant showcase takes viewers on an unforgettable journey, allowing them to see the ordinary world through the eyes of children!" The exhibition promises a vibrant display of imagination, colour, individuality, and creative freedom, highlighting the importance of nurturing artistic confidence from an early age. Epilepsy Awareness Day Tomorrow (Friday 15th May) Vigo Primary School are holding an "Epilepsy Awareness Day" across the school. As a number of pupils and members of the Vigo Community suffer from epilepsy, we therefore wanted to create an opportunity to raise awareness and show our support. The children are invited to wear something purple with their school uniform.

SATS 2025/26 completed The biggest congratulations to all of our wonderful Year 6 pupils who today completed their final SATs tests. Whether it was the children sitting the tests, or those supporting younger peers in other year groups, the children have applied themselves superbly and should be so proud of all of their efforts. As always, we've celebrated and welcomed the pupils in every morning with a Year 6 SATs breakfast event. These were really well attended and we wanted to take this opportunity to say the BIGGEST thank you to our Year 6 staff team who have given up their time to come in well before their start time to set things up for the pupils - the event couldn't happen without them so we're sure you'll join us in giving them a huge shout out. A special mention has to go to Mrs Weymouth and Mrs Pass who have led the charge in terms of ordering food and cooking it all every morning - on behalf of all the pupils thank you so much

Walk to school week 2026 is from Monday 18th May- Friday 22nd May, encouraging children to walk, wheel, cycle, or scoot to school while promoting health, safety, and environmental awareness. Aligning with National walking month, walk to school week supports children's daily activity levels as well as encourages parents to spend quality time with their children on the walk to and from school, developing conversation and language skills to all our children. Our Junior Road Safety Officers will be sharing resources with all pupils ahead of this week, to remind children of being safe near the roads. They have also come up with some activities to make walks more active and to promote conversation whilst walking."

Year 5 Oxford University of Natural History Trip This is the biggest shout out to The Year 5 staff and their wonderful parent helpers for organising and supervising such a fantastic trip. The children were a real credit to our school and members of the public commented on their enthusiasm for learning and their respect for other visitors. The quote of the day came from a member of Costa Rica class "since when did Museums become SO cool!?"
