Vigo Visitors

We at Vigo love to have visitors in school. We believe that inviting guests into our school to share their experiences and expertise truly enriches the children's educational experiences and cultural capital by promoting aspirations and life goals. Take a look at some of the people we have been luck enough to have in school.

Karen Slater from Crediton Milling

Today Year 5 had a virtual meeting with Karen Slater from Crediton Milling to understand how cows produce milk and whether farmers get paid fairly in the United Kingdom or not. This is adding to our Geography work that we have been doing on Fairtrade this half term. The children asked wonderful questions and listened really well throughout. Well done.

Our fascinating visit from Chris Lubbe

Chris Lubee spent eight years as bodyguard to Nelson Mandela and now spends his time as a motivational speaker, carrying on the legacy that is Nelson Mandela and his stories. He was inspiring to listen to and captivated the children in his words of wisdom and intriguing tales. We thoroughly loved listening to him and know this experience will have a lasting impact on the children. Thank you for visiting Vigo!

Our inspiring visit from Katie Piper

Katie Piper is a local inspiration to Andover. Now a tv presenter, model, author, founder of the Katie Piper Foundation charity with ambassadors including famous celebrities such as Simon Cowell, she came back to her roots where she was born and raised to share some inspirational words. Katie was a victim of an acid attack in 2008 which left needing facial reconstructive surgery as a result of burns to her face and neck. She documented her experiences and has used her platform to support and encourage other who may have suffered life changing experiences to embrace their bodies, minds and beauty within. She endorses the importance of mental health and how we should share kindness. The children loved listening to her motivational, inspiring story and still talk about her visit today. Thank you for visiting Vigo!
