Year 4
Year 4 has three classes
Japan, Georgia and Nepal
Hello and welcome to the Year 4 home page.
Welcome to Year 4! All of our Year 4 classes are part of the continent Asia.
Japan – Miss Taylor
Georgia – Miss Butchers
Nepal – Miss Crossman
Start / End of Day
In Year 4, our day starts at 8.45 and ends at 3:10. Please ensure your child arrives to school on time so they don’t miss out on our learning. Arriving in class late can be unsettling for your child and disrupts the smooth running of the classroom.
What to Bring to School
If you haven’t already, please could you ensure your child has a pillowcase in school to place on the back of their chair to store belongings. We would like to discourage backpacks in school as we have limited space underneath desks at the moment. Bags on the floor can be a trip hazard to both teaching staff and pupils. When restrictions have been lifted and children can use the cloakrooms, we will welcome them back into school. Children should only need to bring into school, a water bottle (containing water not squash) and their packed lunch. Everything else is provided.
PE Days
Class PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please come to school wearing trainers, joggers or shorts under skirts on PE days.
Healthy Snack
Please send your child in with a healthy snack to eat at break time. Ideas include breadsticks, fruit, chopped vegetables, dried fruit or a sandwich.
Lunchboxes
If your child brings a packed lunch to school, please make sure there are no products that contain nuts (this does include many chocolate spreads) as we have children with allergies. Please do not send your child to school with sweets or fizzy drinks in their lunch boxes. Some healthy ideas can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes. If your child has a school dinner, these cost £2.40 per meal and must be paid for in advance. If you receive certain means tested benefits you may be eligible for free school meals. Please email the office if you would like more information about this.
Homework
Reading 5 x per week
We will send homework out each Friday for the following week. This will include;
Spellings
Timestables
Handwriting Practice
Times Tables
By the end of the Year 4, all pupils are expected to know their times tables up to 12 and will have to sit a national test at the end of the year. It is therefore imperative that these are practised outside of school as well as during school day. Please encourage your child to use Timestable Rockstar’s at home as much as possible if this can be accessed. All pupils have a log on which they can get my their class teacher.
